leonandjanet Store Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Stock Cert 1811 VERY NICE The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts: Original Stock Certificate. One Share. Dated:  May 1, 1811. Stock Certificate # 218 Issued to William Rawle Jun. The Academy's Raised Seal is at the lower left. The names at the bottom left and right of the building image are J. J. Barralet del (on the left) and B Tanner fc (on the right). It measures about 14-5/8" by 10-3/4" Condition is very good -- signed in ink -- aged -- some tears along the edges and where the certificate was folded -- folded a number of times as you can see -- some staining in the creases -- has the engraving imprint line around the outside of the page -- some light mildew as you can see  -- for its age, it is in very good condition. ******************** The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts was founded in 1805 by painter and scientist Charles Wilson Peale, sculptor William Rush, and other artists and business leaders. It is the oldest art museum and school in the nation. The Academy continues to focus on its founding mission - that of collecting, exhibiting, and teaching fine art in America, combining st udio instruction and direct contact with historic and contemporary works of art. Through the galleries, the internationally known school of fine arts and the public programs, the Academy strives to integrate these resources, providing the student or the visitor with a unique and thrilling experience.
