Outstanding! This sharp $20 Saint Gaudens from the San Francisco mintage of 1910 meets all the expectations of a GEM-grade coin. Crisp, well-struck devices contrast beautifully against creamy-smooth surfaces full of bright, original mint luster. The fields are unperturbed, the obverse in particular featuring a prominent cartwheel shine. This is a display-worthy Saint that would make a fantastic addition to any high-end gold collection. While over 2 million Saint Gaudens were minted in San Francisco in 1910, few high-end examples remain. Most were lost to circulation or destroyed in the massive bullion melts of the 1930s, making gem-grade specimens like the one being offered here hard to find. Note that only a small fraction has survived to grade as high as MS65 with PCGS, and only 16 1910-S Saints have graded higher, making this Double Eagle one of the best known examples of its kind. PCGS currently lists a conservative value of $9,000 for the 1910-S $20 Saint Gaudens in MS65 grade. Compare this bargain cost to the $39,500 price tag of the MS66 -- clearly, the MS65 makes an unbeatable bargain and has tons of upside potential!
